Southern Living to Veranda to Butcher Box and countless blogs, designers and influencers… 2025 is in fact, The Year of the Dinner Party. It’s never been dead to us, but we know not everyone grew up the way we did where a meal was the catalyst for real conversations, full belly laughs, hard talks and ultimately some of the best memories. Here is what we predict you are going to see over the next 12 months.

Just Do It
Yep! 2025 is the year of the at-home dinner party. We are no longer hiding behind our screens and memes. Dust off the dining room (or breakfast room, kitchen island, folding table or poufs…) No excuses, we are ready to connect, share stories and make memories over a meal.
Menus with Meaning
We love a theme and we also appreciate an impromptu pizza party. No matter what, consider your guests (allergens anyone?) or the intention of what you are celebrating or honoring. Use that to fuel the menu. No matter what, have fun with it! Hand written menu cards or printed out with an online template can be a fun way to enhance a theme. Also, I keep my menus in a scrapbook with notes and highlights from my dinner parties.
Heirloom or Bust
Think grandmas china is outdated or the vintage fondue set is dead? You are wrong. Sustainability is chic and we are going to see a huge resurgence of storied pieces paired with modern elements, details and patterns for a fresh approach to heirloom.
Intention Over Perfection
Gone are the days of making excuses for why you can’t. Have the long overdue cup of coffee, invite your elderly neighbor over for tea or cocktails (old people have THE BEST stories and they involve real moments, with real people in real time) or host the obscure holiday party. National Waffle Day is as good a day as any for a get together. Set your intention and the let the rest go. (Hint: the intention is usually the “who” not the “what”…)
No Photos Please
This one might be more of a pipe dream than a trend, but the camera no longer eats first. Host a gathering without phones and then afterward write down what you remember most. How you felt, what you ate, whom you met. It requires you to connect fully with your senses throughout the meal and studies show that you have more vivid and richer memories when experienced first hand versus a photo.

Bonus Trend: We All Need a Little Help Sometimes. Hosting and entertaining isn’t a solo venture. If you need help on how to do it, or what not to do, or have no idea where to even start, we’ve got you. That is what Ghost Host is for. We are here to empower you, coach you and level you up or even just refresh what you already have and know.
