Mangia With The Mob- A Team Holiday Celebration
We have our core team and then there is the rest of the team that makes it all happen onsite. We simply cannot do it without them. We also wait to celebrate in the new year when things are a little less hectic and a little more quiet.
I kicked off the year by “getting the gang back together” for a night of community, shenanigans and a little bit of luck. Everyone of course came in their finest furs, animal print and sass.

Setting the Tone
The experience began before guests even arrived. Our invite teased what was to come:
“You’re Invited to Mangia with The Mob. Let’s get the ‘gang’ together to celebrate a year of success for the Magnolia Bluebird family. I hope you can make it or you’ll be swimmin’ with the fishes. Don your best mafia look from housewife to fall guy. Don’t be a wiseguy—get dressed. Games will be played—bring 10, $1 unmarked bills.”
From the first line, everyone knew this wasn’t just a dinner party, it was a role-playing world where everyone had a part to play.
Guests arrived in pinstripes, fur stoles, silk scarves, and red lips. From mob wives to mysterious fall guys, the commitment to the theme was impeccable—and it made the entire evening feel immersive before the first cocktail was even poured.
Cocktails in the Foyer, Mischief in the Air
I welcomed guests on the foyer level with hugs and coat check and of course, a full bar moment in the living room. As they arrived, guests grabbed a cocktail of their choice, setting the tone immediately. I don’t like to be behind the bar or in the kitchen all night. It created a natural flow—no awkward waiting, just instant mingling, laughter, and people slipping effortlessly into their mobster personas.
Upstairs for Bites & Anticipation
From there, guests made their way upstairs to the dining room, where hors d’ouevres were waiting. The menu was designed to feel elevated and stress-free. I like a mix of dips, bites and boards for variety.
A Table To Die For (see what we did there?)
Around 8 p.m., guests were invited to sit for dinner, and this is where the evening truly came to life. Drenched in moody glamour: a rich holiday plaid tablecloth layered with tortoise acrylic, emerald malachite, matte black and gold-rimmed plates, detailed with heirloom green dragon salad plates were kept from going too serious with a white and red holiday plaid napkin. Tall red vintage taper candles cast a warm glow with jewel-toned florals.
The palette (red, emerald, black, and gold), felt sexy old-world, and just dramatic enough to feel cinematic without being kitschy. It was equal parts Italian supper club and holiday feast, which was exactly the vibe I wanted.

Elevated, Effortless Italian
To keep hosting for this number of guests, as stress-free as possible, I opted for a partially catered, buffet-style meal. It was supposed to be family style, hence the placesettings, but everyone felt a quick buffet would keep the sauce on the platters and not laps. Drinks were poured and toasts were shared. Bottles on the table kept it informal and free spirited.
Dinner came from a favorite local Italian haunt which made it incredibly easy to heat, platter and serve without spending the entire week in the kitchen. Hearty pastas, classic Italian comfort dishes, and crowd-pleasing sides meant everyone could go back for seconds—and thirds.
The Universal Coupe
I love this glass, and not for the champagne that it was intended for. They are chic, elegant and just deep enough to layer in dessert, ceviche or caviar dreams. I may even like them more than a small trifle dish for the portion size they offer. I served tiramisu layered into vintage coupes. It felt refined, playful, and very much on theme.
Plus, individual desserts were a nice departure from the mass buffet. Simple, elegant and delicious.
High Stakes & High Spirits
Once dinner wound down, the real mob energy kicked in. Guests pulled out their “unmarked bills,” and we launched into a family favorite. LRC (Left, Right, Center). It is a game of chance and luck. We upped the ante with real money but the stakes low at just $5 a game. It requires no skill, no learning curve and is just a ton of fun.
By the end of the night, the room was buzzing—exactly what you hope for when you bring together great people and mix in a bit of mischief and moments.

A Monthly Tradition
This Mobster Dinner Party wasn’t just a celebration—it was a proof of concept. Themed nights give guests permission to show up fully, dress boldly, and step out of their everyday roles. They create instant connection and stories that people will talk about long after the dishes are cleared. And if January was any indication, we are just getting started.
Here’s to a year of unforgettable tables, immersive themes, and gathering our people around something that feels both wildly fun and beautifully intentional.
