The Kentucky Derby, Cinco de Mayo and Old Line Market. It was a busy weekend. Thank you to everyone that came out to Aix La Chappell Farm in Poolesville to visit us at our Ghost Host pop up shop. It was A: an insane amount of work and B: such a great time! I have to tell you, I love a good deal, the thrill of the hunt and a solid negotiation. However; I may never haggle another price tag for as long as I live now that I know exactly what goes in to these “little shops” and you know we are no strangers to hard work, long nights and early mornings.
I continue to be grateful for our friends over at Table Manners and Fabrication who helped us take our booth to the next level (no we can’t leave well-enough alone). And while I never got to hang wallpaper with my dad when he was alive, I think it’s in my blood. Also to the village of amazing humans that also worked tirelessly to make the booth for the Ghost Host pop-up shop happen! Harmony, David, Chris, Stephanie and of course Frankie for moral support. And big love to Kate at Southerlee Farm for feeding us when we under estimated timing and almost pulled an all-nighter.
We got to send three amazing couples home with their very own vintage china and porcelain collections with the promise of more gatherings. Countless cocktails are now being consumed from absolutely gorgeous stemware and there are seasoned hostesses creating such beautiful magic with their new mix-and match collections.
I got to teach a few future hosts the proper way to set a table. And I still swear by the fact that if “you’ve got it, you’ve got it” and some of these kids and their style are going to give us all a run for our money.
And to those of you that came out in person, it was an honor to see you, to hug your necks and see your smiles. Honestly that was what made it all worth it.
And before you ask, no, we are not in the business of pop-up shops. We are in the business of redefining and reviving the art of home entertaining. I just happen to have a fairly incredible collection of beautiful things to get you there. Let me know what you need. I probably have it and can certainly source it.
