I usually have no shortage of words (hard stop) particularly when it comes to celebrating loved ones, whether by blood or otherwise. In this case though I’ve stared at this blank page long enough to know if I just start, the words will eventually come (and I promised my marketing director I wouldn’t leave the office until this was written).
It was 8 years ago that I suddenly lost my father to a heart attack. I still find myself welling up with tears randomly, sometimes with great cause, other times seemingly for no reason. I do think about him every day. I can see his smile, I can hear his laugh and imagine the grin when he was about to start something or at least instigate a bit. I still find it hard to enjoy the holidays with the same enthusiasm I once possessed, he always seemed to make every day but especially those days lighter and brighter. A gift worthy of celebrating a little bit more. I created Ghost Host to really root the practice of celebrating every day since one day the chance might not be there. At least not in body.
So, whether you are raising a glass to him, with him or in his honor. Or raising your own children of any age. Here’s to you.

For this Father’s Day look, I designed a detailed yet relaxed tablescape, featuring a bourbon bar at one end and place settings for a celebratory meal at the other. The placesetting consisted of these hunter green antelope placemats, a gold rimmed charger , tortoise shell flatware, and this lovely cognac and white hemstitch dinner napkin.

Some of my favorite table details include the green cordless LED table lamps, the gold rim water fowl glasses, and a vintage silver plated trophy cup which I cleaned up and used as the floral vessel.

But the real star of the table? The bourbon bar, perfectly within arm’s reach. A green decorative tray anchors the setup, and makes moving the party easy after a meal. Thoughtful glassware, like the Culver Piza Skyball Highball, instantly elevate the experience. Pro tip: always add a cluster bowl of garnishes and bar snacks for easy, help-yourself moments. And don’t forget the details — elevated coasters, like these green agate beauties, are the finishing touch you didn’t know you needed. Cheers to good company and Happy Father’s Day!
